8.6 So, too, neither/nor, either




We can use these words, with inversion and an auxiliary verb, when it is unnecessary to repeat information that is already clear.



Jane plays tennis and so do I.
(La Jane juga a tennis i jo també.)
Jane plays tennis and I do too.
(La Jane juga a tennis i jo també.)
I don't eat meat and neither/nor does Tim.
(No menjo carn i en Tim tampoc.)
I don't eat meat and Tim doesn't either.
(No menjo carn i en Tim tampoc.)
A: Tom can speak Chinese. (En Tom sap parlar xinès.)
  B: So can his brother./His brother can too. (El seu germà també.)
C: Bill didn't take the exam. (En Bill no va fer l'examen.)
 D: Neither/Nor did Sally./Sally didn't either. (La Sally tampoc.)
