7.2 Prepositions of movement
We can use many prepositions for both place and movement, e.g.:
 | The house lies between the church and the pub.
(Place; La casa es troba entre l'església i el pub.) |
 | Mary walked quickly between the two groups.
(Movement; La Mary caminava ràpidament entre els dos grups.) |
Prepositions that are specifically for movement are to, into and onto, e.g.:
 | Jim walked to the park.
(En Jim va anar al parc caminant.) |
 | Tom walked into the restaurant.
(En Tom va entrar al restaurant.) |
 | They moved the lamps onto the stage.
(Van traslladar els llums a sobre l'escenari.) |
| |
Notice that there is no preposition of movement with the word home, e.g.:
 | They went/came/arrived home late.
(Van anar/venir/arribar a casa tard.) |
