7.1 Prepositions of place

Les més freqüents són: in, on, at, under, over, below, above, behind, in front of, between, near, far from, beside, by. Vet aquí uns quants exemples:

My sister was in the shop. (La meva germana era dins la botiga.)

The food is on the table. (El menjar és damunt la taula.)

There were three people at the bus stop. (Hi havia tres persones a la parada de l'autobús.)

Look at the photo. Under / Below the photo, there are two questions. (Mireu la foto. A sota de la foto, hi ha dues preguntes.)

She wore a white T-shirt under a red jacket. Error: She wore a white T-shirt below a red jacket.

No es fa servir below quan les coses estan en contacte.

The village lies below a great rock. (El poble estŕ situat sota una enorme roca.)

There's a sign above/ over the door. (Hi ha un rčtol sobre la porta.)

Jane was sitting behind Terry. (La Jane estava asseguda darrere d'en Terry.)

Terry was sitting in front of Jane. (En Terry estava assegut davant la Jane.)

There's a shuttle service between Barcelona and Madrid. (Hi ha un pont aeri entre Barcelona i Madrid.)

Figueres is near Girona. (Figueres és a prop de Girona.)

Figueres is not far from Girona. (Figueres no és gaire lluny de Girona.)

The hill called Montjuďc is beside / by the sea. (El turó anomenat Montjuďc és al costat del mar.)
