10.3 Else

Else significa ‘‘més’’ o ‘‘altre/diferent’’, però el seu ús es restringeix a acompanyar les paraules interrogatives what, who, when, where, how i les formes something, anything, nothing, somebody, anybody, nobody, etc.

Here are the potatoes. What else would you like? (Aquí tens les patates. Què més vols?) (Error: What more would you like?)

You've mentioned Carol and Ted. Who else did you talk to? (Has esmenat la Carol i en Ted. Amb qui més vas parlar?) (Error: Who more did you talk to?)

A: Would you like anything else? (Vol alguna cosa més?)

B: No, nothing else, thank you. (No, res més, gràcies.)

I did the washing up yesterday. It's somebody else's turn. (Jo vaig rentar els plats ahir. Ara li toca a un altre.)

This stone is found in Sicily and nowhere else. (Aquesta pedra es troba a Sicília i enlloc més.)
