7.2 Prepositions of movement
We can use many prepositions for both place and movement, e.g.:
 | The house lies between the church and the pub.
(Place; La casa está situada entre la iglesia y el pub.) |
 | Mary walked quickly between the two groups.
(Movement; Mary caminaba rápidamente entre los dos grupos.) |
Prepositions that are specifically for movement are to, into and onto, e.g.:
 | Jim walked to the park.
(Jim fue al parque caminando.) |
 | Tom walked into the restaurant.
(Tom entró en el restaurante.) |
 | They moved the lamps onto the stage.
(Colocaron las luces sobre el escenario.) |
|
Notice that there is no preposition of movement with the word home, e.g.:
 | They went/came/arrived home late.
(Fueron/vinieron/llegaron tarde a casa.) |
