1.12 Imperative




The positive form of the imperative is the same as the infinitive: go, stand, be, etc.

The negative form is don't or do not (more formal) with the infinitive, e.g.:



Go to your room.
(¡Ve a tu habitación!)
Wait here.
(¡Espérate aquí!)
Do not leave valuables in the car.
(¡No dejéis las cosas de valor en los coches!)
Don't be silly.
(¡No seas sinvergüenza!)


If necessary, we can include you before the imperative, e.g.:



You stand on my left, Jane, and you stand on my right.
(¡Ponte de pie a mi izquierda, Jane, y tú, ponte a mi derecha!)
