In English, adverbs of place, time and manner can follow the verb or the direct object, e.g.:
| Example | Català | |
| Place | Were they playing there? | Jugaven allà? |
| We saw flags everywhere. | Vam veure banderes a tot arreu. | |
| Time | You must come tomorrow. | Has de venir demà. |
| They brought all the books yesterday. | Van portar tots els llibres ahir. | |
| Manner | He doesn't work quickly. | No treballa ràpidament. |
| Does she play tennis well? | Juga bé a tennis? |
They cannot normally go between the verb and the object:
Does she play well tennis?
However, adverbs of time often go in initial position, e.g.:
![]() | Now they are preparing the lunch. (Ara preparen el dinar.) |
![]() | Yesterday she visited 14 clients. (Ahir va visitar 14 clients.) |
