Not is the most general negative, e.g.:

They have not paid. (No han pagat.)

It's not very likely. (No és molt probable.)

She came yesterday, not today. (Va venir ahir, no avui.)

Not one person offered any help. (Ni una persona no va oferir ajuda.)

We can use no with comparatives, e.g.:

This film is no better than the last one. (Aquesta pel·lícula no és millor que l'última.)
