11.8 Double genitive
Notice the expressions a friend of mine (un amic meu/una amiga meva), a cousin of Tom's (un cosí/una cosina d'en Tom). In English we cannot say a friend of me, a cousin of Tom, etc.
 | A cousin of mine lives in California.
(Un cosí meu/una cosina meva viu a Califòrnia.) |
| I met a flatmate of yours at the market.
(Vaig conèixer un dels teus companys de pis al mercat.) |
| Were there many friends of theirs at the talk?
(Hi havia molts dels seus amics a la xerrada?) |
| Is this song a favourite of yours?
(Aquesta cançó és una de les teves preferides?) |
